Softball Game Preview: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Clay Eagles

The Springfield Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Clay Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Springfield turned things around against Elmwood on Thursday. They came out on top against the Royals by a score of 8-5.

Clay came out on top against Napoleon on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Eagles blew past the Wildcats 16-6. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Clay's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Springfield, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Springfield came up short against Clay in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 9-5. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
