Meanwhile, Scotts Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They came up short against Soquel, falling 3-0.

Scotts Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Santa Cruz, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

Santa Cruz took their win against Scotts Valley in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
