The Vallivue Falcons will take on the Skyview Hawks in a tournament on Monday. Vallivue is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.
Vallivue is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Bishop Kelly just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 12-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Falcons have suffered since April 3rd.
Isaac Farrel was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Skyview entered their tilt with Emmett on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Huskies 14-7. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Ledger Downs and Trevan Plew did most of the damage at the plate: Downs got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while Plew went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Plew has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Russell, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Skyview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
Skyview's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Vallivue, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-2.
Vallivue came out on top in a nail-biter against Skyview when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 9-7. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
