Recap: Liberty Lancers vs. Rampart Rams
The Liberty Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 51-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rampart. Liberty was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Rampart apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from London Praytor, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. Gavyn Franz was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Myles Chavarria had a dynamite game for Rampart, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Adeel Johnson el, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Isaiah Melecio, who's played more minutes than anyone else on the Rams squad sat out for Friday's match. With Melecio sitting this one out, Bobby Woolfolk got some extra time on the court (16 vs. his season average of 7.93).
Liberty dropped their record down to 6-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Rampart, their win bumped their record up to 8-13.
Liberty's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Fountain-Fort Carson at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Fountain-Fort Carson is ranked 160th, while Liberty is ranked 147th). As for Rampart, they will head out on the road to challenge Pine Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Creek has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
