The Fletcher Senators will challenge the Ponte Vedra Sharks at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Ponte Vedra will be up against a hot Fletcher squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Fletcher was the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Stanton on Friday. The Senators not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 13th.
Gabe Hernandez was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jakeb McDougall, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Hernandez wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Fletcher kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Ponte Vedra came into Monday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over Orange Park on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ponte Vedra also got a great performance from Max Mracek as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Madox Tepper was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Jack Brady was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Fletcher's victory bumped their record up to 8-5-1. As for Ponte Vedra, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fletcher has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ponte Vedra struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
