Lewistown skates past Peoria Christian with ease

The Lewistown Indians scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Peoria Christian 76-26 at home. That looming 76-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lewistown yet this season.

Lewistown was led to victory by Abby Wiegand and Landry Smith. Wiegand scored 17 points along with five steals, while Smith scored 21 points along with six assists and six steals. Wiegand continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Joley McLaughlin was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Despite the defeat, Peoria Christian saw an underclassman step up: Abby Kilkenny dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Kilkenny also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Kennedi Dewitt, who scored eight points.

Peoria Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lewistown racked up 25 assists.

The victory got Lewistown back to even at 13-13. As for Peoria Christian, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.

Lewistown and Bushnell-Prairie City will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Bushnell-Prairie City is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Peoria Christian, they will head out on the road to take on Peoria Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Peoria Heights' favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Peoria Christian has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
