Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Hurricanes vs. Menchville Monarchs

Heritage is 2-8 against Menchville since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Heritage Hurricanes will be playing at home against the Menchville Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Heritage was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 83-78 to Kecoughtan.

Meanwhile, Menchville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Denbigh. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Patriots are ranked 93rd).

Menchville's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Heritage, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5.

Heritage didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Menchville in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 74-70 win. Will Heritage repeat their success, or does Menchville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
