Sunbelt recap Oct. 23, 2012
Heritage extended the longest winning streak in Sunbelt this week by beating Paloma Valley, 24-13. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Lakeside moved up to 680 from 709 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lancers climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Perris 16-14.
Brent Boehm put up the best numbers through the air as the Wildcats lost to Heritage. He finished with 16 completions for 198 yards and one touchdown. Boehm's favorite target this week was CJ Parker, who caught four passes for 64 yards.
Shane Pico was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 177 yards as Elsinore lost to Lakeside. Teammate Kevin Gatrost added to the ground attack by rushing for 57 yards.
Deville was the best wideout in Sunbelt this week as Perris fell to Kitrick Taylor's team. Deville racked up four receptions for 64 yards. Jalen Lipscomb helped Perris' passing attack out by catching four balls for 56 yards.
Sean Trimble provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Temescal Canyon lost to the Tigers. He completed nine passes for 172 yards and also ran for 66 yards. Trimble's favorite target this week was Andrew Veazey, who caught two passes for 44 yards.
5-foot-11 quarterback Boehm of Paloma Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1468. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. On the ground, the Patriots' Jamal Morrow has rushed for 1312 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Lipscomb. The Perris star has 28 catches for 630 yards.
Allan Stubbs of the Elsinore is only 35 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 137 carries Stubbs has accumulated 965 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Bert Esposito's team takes on the Titans. The Wildcats are in second place, while Temescal Canyon is in fourth place.
The Lancers and the Panthers played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with the Lancers eventually emerging with a 16-14 victory.
