Volleyball Recap: Tate Newton and Taylor Laws Secure Win for Loretto + How To Watch

Loretto had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Perry County on Monday. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Vikings. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since September 18th (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Loretto took every set by at least 12 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-6, 25-13.

Leading Loretto to victory were Taylor Laws and Tate Newton. Laws had 11 aces, while Newton had ten assists and seven aces. Those 11 aces gave Laws a new career-high. Lainey Johnson also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Loretto was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 27 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Loretto is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-24 record this season. As for Perry County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Looking ahead, Loretto will face off against Lewis County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Perry County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
