The Palisades Dolphins will take on the Carson Colts at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Palisades 3.5, Carson 4.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Palisades is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They came out on top against Kennedy by a score of 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Dolphins in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.
Jack O'Brien was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jack Kurland, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Carson waltzed into their contest on Thursday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 15-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won nine matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Salvador Carillo looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Carson got a massive performance out of Xavier Allen, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Allen a new career-high. Noah Sandoval was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Carson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .647. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Palisades' record now sits at 18-10. As for Carson, their record is now 16-13.
Palisades came out on top in a nail-biter against Carson in their previous meeting back in March of 2019, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dolphins since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
