Volleyball Recap: Timnath Cubs vs. Mullen Mustangs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Timnath can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mullen Mustangs by a score of 3-2 on Saturday.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Mullen scored at least ten points in every set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 15-10.

Livy McLaughlin paced Timnath's offense, picking up 13 kills. McLaughlin got some help from Jersey McCollum and her 42 assists. Sage Raymond controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Mullen to victory were Braylee Shatley and Cassandra Menke. Shatley had 31 digs and three assists, while Menke had 12 digs. Those 12 digs gave Menke a new career-high.

Timnath's loss ended a five-match streak of away wins and brought them to 16-9. As for Mullen, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6.

Timnath does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mullen, they will take on Cheyenne Mountain at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday.
