Softball Game Preview: Whitewright Tigers vs. Bland Tigers

For the second straight game, Whitewright will face off against Bland. Whitewright will face off against Bland on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Whitewright has six straight wins, Bland has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Whitewright is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Bland 14-4. Whitewright might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Taryn Minzenmayer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joslyn Jones, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Taylor Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

Whitewright kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive games.

Whitewright pushed their record up to 18-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bland, their loss dropped their record down to 12-15.
