Volleyball Recap: Winfield Falls Short Against Ranked Wirt County

Winfield faced Wirt County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Generals took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Generals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Winfield's loss came despite strong showings from Natalie Cook and Rubie Kauffman. Cook had 12 digs and two assists, while Kauffman had three digs and two aces.

With the loss, Winfield broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 22-8-2. As for Wirt County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3-1 record this season.
