Baseball Recap: Bluefield Takes a Loss

Bluefield fell victim to James Monroe and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Mavericks, falling 14-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mavericks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-0 back in March.

Bluefield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for James Monroe, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-10 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Bluefield will face off against Summers County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Beavers are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for James Monroe, they will venture away from home to take on Midland Trail at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.73 runs per game on average), something the Mavericks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
