Softball Recap: Pickerington Central Drops Season-High Score on Reynoldsburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pickerington Central). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Reynoldsburg Raiders a 22-0 shutout on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won seven in a row.

Samara Williams tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Pickerington Central got a massive performance out of Camree Cunningham, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Cunningham also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Abby Barnett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5.

Pickerington Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pickerington Central's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Reynoldsburg, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
