Basketball Recap: Norwayne Finds Playoff Glory Versus South Range

Norwayne had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the South Range Raiders, posting a 64-23 win. The Bobcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Norwayne was led to victory by Hannah Froelich and Ava Maibach. Froelich dropped a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards, while Maibach almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine assists. Maibach has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Kendra Berger also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Norwayne was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Range only three assists.

When it comes to explaining why South Range lost on Saturday, don't look at Gwen Lowry. Despite the final result, she posted six points.

The victory was the 16th in a row for Norwayne, bringing their record for this year to 22-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points over those games. As for South Range, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-13.

Coming up, Norwayne will challenge Chippewa at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chippewa will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Norwayne surely won't give up without a fight. South Range does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
