In carving out a 14-0 record, the Knights of Steele (Cibolo) have outscored opponents 580-171.

Pretty impressive — until compared to Steele's opponent in a Class 6A-DII state semifinal.

The Katy Tigers, also 14-0, have scored 706 points and allowed a paltry 55.

Katy, No. 2 in MaxPreps Texas Top 25, and No. 3 Steele face off at 2 p.m. Saturday at San Antonio's Alamo Stadium.

Steele likely will not be intimidated. A season ago a similarly dominant Katy needed overtime to squeeze out a 27-20 victory at Houston's NRG Stadium. Just to reach overtime, the Tigers needed a field goal as regulation time expired.

Top-ranked Allen (14-0) continues its quest for a fourth consecutive state title in the state semifinal round of Class 6A-DI. The Eagles, riding a 57-game winning streak, face No. 5 Westlake (Austin) coached by Todd Dodge. When Dodge was in charge at Southlake Carroll, the Dragons in a five-year stretch celebrated four state titles.

Here's the Texas Top 25 going into the state semifinal playoff round.
