Softball Recap: Richland Has No Trouble Against Hollidaysburg

Richland lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Hollidaysburg, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Rams blew past the Golden Tigers 18-3 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Sophie Burke, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Naylor, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Richland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Richland's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Hollidaysburg, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richland will venture away from home to take on Bellwood-Antis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hollidaysburg, they will take on Bellefonte at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Golden Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
