Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Jacksonville

Jacksonville entered their tilt with Springfield Southeast on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Spartans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-0 on Tuesday.

Ryan Headen was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacksonville let Anderson Decker and Jacob Henry run wild. Decker went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Henry went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Ethan Kruzan was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs.

Jacksonville's victory bumped their record up to 18-14. As for Springfield Southeast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-18.

Coincidentally, Jacksonville and Springfield Southeast will both be playing New Berlin/Franklin/Waverly the next time they take the field. The Spartans will head out to face the Vipers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Crimsons will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
