Football Recap: Athens Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Athens can now relate to. They took a blow against the Jersey Shore Bulldogs on Friday, falling 73-14. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

It was another big night for Bo Sechrist, who rushed for 286 yards and six TDs while picking up 15.9 yards per carry for Jersey Shore. Sechrist's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolen Pauling, who threw for 197 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

With the loss, Athens broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-2. As for Jersey Shore, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Athens does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jersey Shore, they will head out to face off against Shamokin Area at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them.
