Recap: Massac County Patriots vs. Murphysboro Red Devils        
        
		
            
 After a string of five wins, the Massac County Patriots's good fortune finally ran out  on Friday. They fell  62-53 to Murphysboro. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Massac County of the  70-58 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture  back in December of 2023.
  Will Harmon and  Jack Turner certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss.  Harmon  scored 18 points, while  Turner  scored 14 points. Harmon has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's  played.
 Massac County's defeat  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 15-6. As for Murphysboro, their victory was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 15-8.
 Massac County won't have much time to rest: their next  contest is against Cairo at 2:00  p.m.  on January 27th. Cairo will have to bring their A-game into this one,  as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 617th, while Massac County is ranked 121st). As for Murphysboro, they will look to defend their home court  on Tuesday against Eldorado at 7:00  p.m. Eldorado is coming into the  match on a six-game losing streak.
