Softball Game Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. Laguna Hills Hawks

The Crean Lutheran Saints will face off against the Laguna Hills Hawks at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Crean Lutheran has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

Laguna Hills is facing Crean Lutheran at the wrong time: Crean Lutheran suffered their first home loss of the season on Tuesday and they're likely out for redemption. They came up short against the Timberwolves, falling 14-6. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Laguna Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Castaic. Even though they lost, the Hawks' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.2 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Kennedy Patterson and Tabitha Kim stepped up to the plate in a big way. Patterson scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Kim scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Patterson also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Patterson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Crean Lutheran's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Laguna Hills, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Crean Lutheran took their victory against Laguna Hills in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 11-2. Will Crean Lutheran repeat their success, or does Laguna Hills have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
