Baseball Game Preview: Upland Highlanders/Scots vs. Etiwanda Eagles

For the second straight game, Upland will face off against Etiwanda. The Highlanders/Scots will welcome the Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Upland has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 3rd.

Upland came up short against Etiwanda on Monday, falling 19-2.

For Etiwanda's part, Jack Holguin looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Holguin also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Eagles are 3-1-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Angel Mejia was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Lj Roellig was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Etiwanda always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Etiwanda is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Upland, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.
