Basketball Game Preview: Beckman Patriots vs. Mission Viejo Diablos

The Beckman Patriots will challenge the Mission Viejo Diablos at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Monday, Beckman came up short against Aliso Niguel and fell 71-60. The Patriots haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Mission Viejo's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 77-67 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Toro.

Beckman will have to contain Damian Navarro as he made an impact in Mission Viejo's last game. He posted 24 points in addition to four steals and three blocks. That was a full 35.8% of Mission Viejo's points, marking the third time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Vargas, who earned 13 points.

Even though they lost, Mission Viejo was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Mission Viejo's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 10-12. As for Beckman, they now have a losing record at 11-12.

Beckman was able to grind out a solid victory over Mission Viejo when the teams last played back in November of 2021, winning 83-75. Will Beckman repeat their success, or does Mission Viejo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
