Basketball Recap: Lennard Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Richard Sykes and Makai Hills

If Lennard was feeling good fresh off their 86-61 takedown of King last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lennard Longhorns took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tampa Bay Tech Titans on Wednesday. While the Longhorns didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Titans 10-6 in the first quarter.

Despite the defeat, Lennard had strong showings from Makai Hills, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, and Richard Sykes, who posted 13 points along with seven boards and three steals. That's the most steals Hills has posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Edgar Delvalle, who earned five points and seven boards.

Evan Clark continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tampa Bay Tech, putting up 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The contest was Clark's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Javon Russel, who scored six points and five boards.

Lennard's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Tampa Bay Tech, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14.

Lennard will look to defend their home court on Friday against Freedom at 8:00 p.m. Lennard is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.1 points per game this season. As for Tampa Bay Tech, they will venture away from home to square off against Plant at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
