Basketball Preview: South Central Satellites vs. Washington Township Senators
South Central is 2-8 against the Senators since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Central Satellites will head out on the road to face off against the Washington Township Senators at 8:00 p.m. Hopefully South Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
Last Saturday, South Central didn't have too much breathing room in their game against the Oilers, but they still walked away with a 59-54 victory.
South Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derek Welsh led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kevin T hiigli, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Washington Township can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Station Edison and snuck past 52-49. The victory was just what Washington Township needed coming off of a 72-45 defeat in their prior matchup.
South Central's record is now 7-9. As for Washington Township, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
South Central couldn't quite finish off the Senators when the teams last played back in February of 2023 and fell 48-45. Can South Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
