Softball Recap: Dallas Wins Going Away Against West Albany

Dallas barely beat West Albany the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Dragons put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Madi Ruman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Grace Walls and Maddi Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Walls went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Jones went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Jones a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ava Woods, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Dallas now has a winning record of 7-6. As for West Albany, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Dallas will face off against rival Crescent Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Dragons' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Raiders have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, West Albany is set to take on their familiar foe Lebanon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
