Softball Game Preview: Alliance Aviators vs. Minerva Lions

The Alliance Aviators will take on the Minerva Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alliance has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 2nd.

On Wednesday, Alliance didn't have quite enough to beat St. Vincent-St. Mary and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Aviators have lost by just one run.

Tashia Henderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, Minerva came up short against Salem on Thursday and fell 7-3. The Lions have struggled against the Quakers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Gabby Kashdan put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, getting no hits from her two at bats.

In other batting news, Mackenzie French made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Minerva's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Alliance, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Alliance came up short against Minerva in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Aviators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
