Baseball Recap: Escambia Academy Find Success

Escambia Academy's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Sparta Academy Warriors. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Hayden Sheets made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isaac Radcliff, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Escambia Academy is undefeated when Radcliff posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Traegen James, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

Escambia Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Sparta Academy, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-15.

Escambia Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Sparta Academy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
