Basketball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Comes Up Short

After flying high against Tradition Prep last Monday, Calvary Chapel Academy came back down to earth. The Calvary Chapel Academy Eagles had to suffer through a 58-24 loss at the hands of the Merritt Island Christian Cougars. The loss continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the loss, Calvary Chapel Academy still got an impressive performance from Ava Dorn, who posted 14 points.

Merritt Island Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Summer Snaith, who dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 15 rebounds, and ten steals. The game was Snaith's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Rhodes, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 17 points.

Calvary Chapel Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Merritt Island Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Calvary Chapel Academy has already played their next matchup (against Morningside Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Merritt Island Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-30 victory against Cocoa Beach on the 30th.
