Volleyball Recap: Vandegrift Vipers vs. Stony Point Tigers
Vandegrift lost against Stony Point back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Vipers fell 3-1 to the Tigers.
While Vandegrift had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 25-18.
Jenna Hehman paced Vandegrift's offense, picking up 28 kills. Hehman got some help from Sadie Jorgensen and her 50 assists. Alexa Gage controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Stony Point had a senior duo take command as Addison Deba had 12 digs and three aces and Lexi Boyer had 12 digs and six assists.
Vandegrift's defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 20-20. As for Stony Point, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-19 record this season.
Vandegrift and Stony Point should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Vipers will challenge Manor at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (236 vs. 1037). Meanwhile, Stony Point (ranked 194th) will meet Hutto (ranked 517th) at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
