Softball Game Preview: South View Tigers vs. Cape Fear Colts

The South View Tigers will take on the Cape Fear Colts at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (South View 2.3, Cape Fear 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

South View played against Seventy-First on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

Cape Fear took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Jack Britt as they made off with an 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

McKinley Kolasa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Cape Fear let Allie Dawson and Addie Davis run wild. Dawson went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Davis went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kalilah De La Cruz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.

Cape Fear hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jack Britt struck out seven times.

Cape Fear has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for South View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-5.

South View couldn't quite get it done against Cape Fear in their previous matchup last Tuesday as they fell 9-6. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
