Baseball Recap: Silver Stage Comes Up Short

Silver Stage had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 6-16 to make it seven. They lost 15-0 to the Yerington Lions. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Lions this season, with their most recent loss being a 9-2 defeat on Saturday.

As for Yerington, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

For Yerington's part, not much got past Toby Juarez, who gave up just three hits to keep Silver Stage off the board. Juarez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Yerington got a massive performance out of Ruben Jimenez, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Jimenez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Valor Angle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and one double.

Silver Stage wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 defeat against North Tahoe on the 22nd. As for Yerington, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-1 win against Incline on the 22nd.
