Baseball Recap: Bloomington South Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Bloomington South challenged Evansville Mater Dei on Saturday. The Panthers took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Reid Walker and Max Surdam did some serious damage despite the final result: Walker went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Surdam went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Azcui, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Bloomington South's defeat dropped their record down to 13-3. As for Evansville Mater Dei, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Bloomington South will be playing in front of their home fans against Southport at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Evansville Mater Dei, they will take on Zionsville in a tournament on Saturday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
