Preview: Brewer Bears vs. Saginaw Rough Riders
The Brewer Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Saginaw Rough Riders at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Brewer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups.
In what's become a running theme this season, Brewer gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Northwest 76-19 at home. Given Brewer's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Northwest is ranked 839th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Saginaw suffered their biggest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Aledo at home and fell 58-26. Saginaw has struggled against Aledo recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jazmine Duncan, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Brewer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 25-4 record this season. As for Saginaw, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Brewer against Saginaw when the teams last played on January 2nd as the team secured a 80-12 victory. With Brewer ahead 37-8 at the half, the game was all but over already.
