Basketball Recap: Fountain-Fort Carson Takes a Loss

Fountain-Fort Carson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Denver South Ravens, falling 61-33. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Ravens are ranked 11th).

Ira Steele and Bryson Williams certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Steele posted six points, while Williams scored six points.

Damian Dirden was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 12 en route to 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Denver South. Another player making a difference was Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who put up eight points and four steals.

Fountain-Fort Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Denver South, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Fountain-Fort Carson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-39 loss against Pine Creek on the 14th. Denver South has also already played their next match, a 71-60 victory against Vista PEAK Prep on the 14th.
