Basketball Recap: Owen County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Eminence

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Owen County). They blew past the Eminence Warriors, posting a 73-46 victory. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 23 points or more this season.

Victoria Spiegl and Brooklyn Smith certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Spiegl went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to six steals and three blocks, while Smith went 6 for 14 en route to 18 points. Spiegl has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 29 times she's played.

The win (which was Owen County's third in a row) raised their record to 12-10. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Eminence, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Looking ahead, Owen County will take on Trimble County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Trimble County is on a three-game streak of home wins, Owen County a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Eminence, they will welcome Carroll County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
