Softball Recap: Flushing Comes Up Short

Flushing extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 25 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-12. They came up short against the Goodrich Martians, falling 17-2. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Martians from their previous meeting back in April of 2016.

As for Goodrich, they pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The result was nothing new for the Martians, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

For Goodrich's part, Alaina Overland looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Hadley Baszler was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Makenzie Jackson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Coming up, Flushing will venture away from home to take on Davison at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Goodrich, they will head out on the road to challenge Swartz Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
