Basketball Game Preview: Brockport Blue Devils vs. Gates Chili Spartans

Brockport and Gates Chili are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. The Brockport Blue Devils will face off against the Gates Chili Spartans at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Brockport will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While Brockport didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-6), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 53-45 victory over Spencerport on Friday. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Rangers are ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Gates Chili came into Saturday's contest having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Batavia by a score of 49-36 on Saturday.

Brockport's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Gates Chili, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.

Brockport strolled past Gates Chili when the teams last played back in December of 2024 by a score of 65-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brockport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
