Softball Game Preview: Sardis Lions vs. Douglas Eagles

The Sardis Lions will challenge the Douglas Eagles at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Sardis 3.4, Douglas 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Douglas will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Sardis extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday. The Lions walked away with a 5-2 win over Boaz.

Meanwhile, Douglas never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Guntersville with a sharp 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Douglas is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Sardis, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-9.

Sardis beat Douglas 6-1 in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
