Basketball Game Preview: Kennedy Thunderbirds vs. McFarland Cougars

The Kennedy Thunderbirds will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the McFarland Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Kennedy is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since December 7, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of Del Oro by a score of 61-58. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, McFarland waltzed into their match on Tuesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They took down the Wildcats 76-59.

McFarland has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Kennedy, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Kennedy took a serious blow against McFarland when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 81-52. Can Kennedy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
