Baseball Recap: Rodriguez Starts Season with Win on the Road

Rodriguez had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the Concord Bears with a sharp 9-1 win on Thursday. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2017.

Bennett Giaramitta looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Benjaman 'BJ' Smith, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Jack Jacobson, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
