Recap: Blanchard Lions vs. Bethany Bronchos
The Blanchard Lions had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They blew past Bethany 27-7. Considering Blanchard has won five matches by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Carson Cooksey looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 299 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Watkins, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Blanchard's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Kade Saunders and his two sacks.
Several Bronchos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wyatt Geissler, who picked up 116 receiving yards and a touchdown. Geissler was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 63 yards.
Blanchard's victory was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.6 points. As for Bethany, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Blanchard will head out on the road to face off against Tecumseh at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tecumseh is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Bethany, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Newcastle at 7:00 p.m.
