Football Recap: Blake Zanger's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Leigh over Lincoln

Leigh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 35-30 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln Lions. The Longhorns gained 146 more yards on the day, but it was the Lions that made the best use of them.

Leigh lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Blake Zanger, who rushed for 126 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Leigh is 4-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Miles Huntington was in the mix too, providing the Longhorns with two TDs.

Leigh's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Lincoln, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 930 yards in their previous games. Meanwhile, Lincoln is set to take on their familiar foe Christopher at 7:15 p.m. on the 31st.
