Baseball Recap: Springfield Takes a Loss

Springfield extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They lost 14-0 to the Bowling Green Bobcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 12-6 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

As for Bowling Green, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-16. They not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 31st (when they won 15-1).

For Bowling Green's part, Kasey Dean was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Dean a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Earl, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

While Springfield had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
