Basketball Recap: Haddam-Killingworth's Run of Three Straight Victories Now Over

After flying high against Westbrook last Tuesday, Haddam-Killingworth came back down to earth. The Haddam-Killingworth Cougars lost to the Coginchaug Regional Blue Devils on the road by a 64-50 margin on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Devils apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Coginchaug Regional's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shayla Vazquez, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Vazquez a new career-high in points. Sophie Farr was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to eight steals and seven assists.

With the loss, Haddam-Killingworth broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3. As for Coginchaug Regional, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Haddam-Killingworth will square off against North Branford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coginchaug Regional, they will take on Old Saybrook at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
