Basketball Recap: Word of God Academy Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Word of God Academy won the last time they faced NELA Christian Homeschool, and Zyere Cartwright did his part to make sure it happened again. The Word of God Academy Force walked away with a 57-45 victory over the NELA Christian Homeschool Flame on Tuesday thanks in part to Cartwright, who went 8 of 20 on his way to 25 points along with five assists and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Word of God Academy's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of George Franklin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in steals.

Word of God Academy is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points per game. As for NELA Christian Homeschool, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11.

Word of God Academy will head out to challenge John Paul the Great Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for NELA Christian Homeschool, they will look to defend their home court on January 21st against Cornerstone Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m.
