Baseball Game Preview: Rolesville Rams vs. Willow Spring Storm

The Rolesville Rams will square off against the Willow Spring Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rolesville will be strutting in after a victory while Willow Spring will be coming in after a loss.

Rolesville's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over Knightdale. The Rams not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.

The result came thanks to Tyler Vincent's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, Carter DeSilva and Logan Daniel did most of the damage at the plate: DeSilva scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Daniel scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Daniel has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jordan Wiggins, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Willow Spring's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They lost 14-4 to Cleveland. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Willow Spring saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Fletcher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Rolesville's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10. As for Willow Spring, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rolesville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Willow Spring struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
