Basketball Recap: River Bluff Comes Up Short

River Bluff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were beaten by the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes 58-31. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Silver Foxes are ranked second).

River Bluff's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Braelyn Davis, who posted five points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks, and Meghan Tucker, who scored six points along with 11 boards and three steals. That's the most rebounds Tucker has posted since back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Michaela Fairwell, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards for Dutch Fork. Fairwell has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kyla Niles, who earned seven points and six steals.

River Bluff's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Dutch Fork, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

Coming up, River Bluff will welcome Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lexington is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season. As for Dutch Fork, they will head out on the road to face off against Irmo at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dutch Fork also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 62.8 points per game.
