Baseball Recap: Orting Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Orting waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Clover Park Timberwolves 9-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 on Tuesday.

Gabe Schrader made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Schrader was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Boston Barkley was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lucas Dickson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Orting hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive matchups.

Orting's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Clover Park, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Orting will take on Port Angeles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cardinals 3.1, the Roughriders 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Clover Park, they are taking a road trip to challenge Eatonville at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
